“I Thought it Said ‘Make Altona Great Again'” says MP

ALTONA, MB

After literally minutes of controversy, Portage-Lisgar MP Candice Bergen is finally speaking out about the undated photo of her wearing a camo MAGA hat.

“I thought it said ‘Make Altona Great Again,'” Bergen said at a press conference earlier today. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, Altona’s already great. Any town with a Van Gogh that size has got to be great, amirite?”

The explanation seemed to placate the locals.

“It seems like an honest mistake. I mean I’m always buying clothes at truck stops without really looking at what they say,” said Mrs. Loewen. “How else do you think I got that pair of sweatpants with ‘Juicy’ written on the bum. That sure wasn’t intentional … Still wear them to the gym, though. You know.”

Still there was one controversy about the hat that had yet to be addressed.

“I thought I’d dodged a bullet there,” said Bergen, “but now they’re on me about the camo. Mennos aren’t into that apparently.”

Bergen promised to wear the regular red Make Altona Great Again cap at all public functions from now on, though not when reading Daily Bonnet articles in the House of Commons.
